    新西蘭初級(jí)產(chǎn)業(yè)部依據(jù)1999年《新西蘭動(dòng)物福利法案》（Animal Welfare Act 1999），將沃特莫告上法庭。法庭判決沃特莫“虐待動(dòng)物”和“允許運(yùn)送不適宜運(yùn)送的動(dòng)物”兩項(xiàng)罪名成立。沃特莫表示認(rèn)罪。
